[SURVEY RESULTS] Paramedic Priorities for the PSBN
Thank you to the Paramedic community for completing the Paramedic Priorities for a Public Safety Broadband Network survey. I am pleased to share the final report that was submitted to the Federal Government to be included in the final report.
This work really highlights the importance of having high speed connectivity in order to provide high quality patient care. The results showed that out of the 95 survey questions there were 30 user capability needs that had a top ranking score.
The following top five (5) themes emerged as paramedic requirements needed of the Public Safety Broadband Network.
- The ability to have 4G or better priority of uninterrupted continuity of communications regardless of the environment.
- The ability to locate paramedics, ambulances, incident command and other assets.
- The ability to access databases and receive information such as medical protocols, patient data in order to conduct their missions.
- Paramedic Leadership needs to be involved in the discussions surrounding the management, and policies surrounding the network to ensure it meets the needs of paramedics.
- Secure and encrypted, cell and data service resiliency to immediately send information using deployables for poorly covered areas.
