Matthew was born and raised in Stratford, PEI. After high school, Matthew attended the University of Prince Edward Island and graduated with his degree in economics in 2008 and continued on to the University of New Brunswick where he completed his master’s degree in policy studies in 2010.
Matthew began his career with Health PEI as a Program Analyst but decided to accept an opportunity to work with Island EMS as an Operations Manager/Business Analyst in 2014. He quickly became very passionate about emergency services. Matthew has been privileged to have had the support from excellent paramedics and leaders within Island EMS which has helped him hold various leadership positions that included managing PEI’s 911/EMS/Fire dispatch centre, Senior Manager of Island EMS and Director of Special Projects for Medavie Health Services. Currently, Matthew is the Regional Director of PEI Operations for Medavie Health Services which includes oversight of the provincial EMS service, the provincial 911 centre as well as PEI’s Mobile Mental Health program.
Matthew resides in Stratford PEI with his wife Amanda and their four young children. As a family, they enjoy spending a lot of time outside doing various activities including camping, biking and spending time at the beach.
