What Will We Be Discussing?
Operational stress is the everyday reality for the frontlines in our paramedic services. The Paramedic Chiefs of Canada commissioned the first Canadian report of its kind to describe what paramedic services can do in the face of operational stress-related mental health injuries. As part of the PCC’s ongoing commitment to its frontline, we bring to you Dr. Nicholas Carleton, this county’s most published researcher regarding trauma and stressor-related reactions.
This session will define trauma, provide a brief history of post-traumatic disorders, describe modern operational stress injuries, speak to differences in exposure and responses, and explain the management of traumatic exposure.
