Growing up in rural Alberta, Marty Scott was first introduced to EMS when he volunteered with the local fire department. This interest developed into driving for the EMS service and eventually becoming a primary care paramedic. Throughout his 31-year career in EMS, Marty has cultivated his passion for system performance, clinical quality, and leadership. Marty has extensive experience in EMS policy and standards through his work with the Government of Alberta which included project managing an MLA panel that recommended alignment of EMS into the health care system. Subsequently his efforts were instrumental in the successful transition of EMS into Alberta Health Services in 2009, where he was one of the three key leads. As the Executive Director of EMS Provincial Programs at Alberta Health Services, Marty is responsible for leading province-wide portfolios that include dispatch, air ambulance, Medical First Response, logistics, EMS emergency management, clinical quality & patient safety, training, research, and strategy. He holds a Master of Business Administration and a Post Baccalaureate Diploma in Management from Athabasca University. Outside of work Marty is passionate about kayak fishing and spending time outdoors.
