What Will We Be Discussing?
As an update and engagement opportunity with the Paramedic Chiefs of Canada membership, the newly re-established Leadership Development Committee will be presenting on current initiatives and future direction. The complexity of today’s systems calls for paramedic leaders who are capable, experienced, educated and prepared. The paramedic leaders of today and tomorrow must not only understand our paramedic and EMS systems from an operations perspective, but they must also be skilled in people management and motivation, technology, finance, planning, problem solving, team building, and succession planning. The goal of this presentation is to not just provide an update, but spark a leadership dialogue regarding the priorities that organizations would see value in from a leadership development perspective.
The committee as a whole believes that Leadership and leadership competencies are the skills, abilities, knowledge, and behaviours that, when demonstrated, contribute to enhanced personal and organizational direction. With this vision, the committee hopes to assist in providing tools to help identify, support, grow, and develop future leaders for our profession and the PCC.
